Caster Semenya saga
I think the media is not doing justice to Caster. There is absolutely nothing wrong that she did. The only mistake that she did was to outrun her competitors. She is talented, she needs to be given some break. We don't even have to feel pity for her, all that she deserves is honour. She is fortunate that now she is aware of the medical complications that migh emanate from her situation. Big up to her!

ReplyDeleteMuch furore on the Caster Semenya debacle need to come to a rapid end. Athletics SA should have informed IAAF about their findings on the test they performed on Caster before she and the athletic entourage went to Germany. The directive that they could have receive could have dispelled or quashed all the hype arround the said issue.
ReplyDeleteI just wonder the impact of the emotional trauma the sensationalisation of the issue is having on Caster. Do people momentarily pause and enquire to Caster how the entire furore is affecting her? It has allegedly emerged that she could be a "hermaphrodite", something which she doesn't have control over. I also believe that her socio-economic status could not allow her to even think of transplant - she was much of a pauper for that. The girl is a talented athlete, allow her to utilize that to emancipate herself from inauspicious grip of poverty.
This world is full of hypocrites: They legislate recognition of gay people, for example, but utter disgust when they see gay couple kissing. Am not insinuation that Caster is gay - just trying to let you on board.
For crying out loud - just let the girl be...
